[On Sunday morning, there is a small gift waiting for the early risers in the tower: a gold key, dangling from a length of twine tied to the wooden beam across the ceiling at the cross section of the four dorms. Upon further inspection it has a particular symbol on the back half and a note that reads "Good job. Here's your reward". The note is signed Heisenberg. The key goes to seventh floor, where there is the same symbol etched above the keyhole on the lock.

Another new floor, another pair of deaths and their numbers halved in a matter of weeks. Things can't go on like this much longer.]

That makes sense. I know there are a lot of things I'm not great at, but I want to succeed. And if it helps us get out and back where we belong, that'll be better.

Better to light them up away from the tower. The tower won't fall apart if it's hit by a firework, but that will be hard to explain anyway. We'll be treated as if we're reckless idiots.

[Nuadha makes a grudging noise, a little embarrassed, but he can't exactly deny the point. Arguing the distinction between his body and an ordinary one when he is visibly a little worn probably isn't a battle he can win, especially not with Felix.]

I expected you'd say something like that.

[But it isn't a small gesture that he brought up the idea first, rather than simply doing it and needing to be scolded later.]

...I think you're right. I doubt anyone will be in the best spirits right now. But the less we can all linger on the images in those crystals, the better.

[Nuadha is halfway to Bryn with a blanket when she startles, giving him his weekly jumpscare.]

Honestly... Of all the places to sleep.

[Nuadha nods back in acknowledgment, entirely content. Having a concrete task to turn his mind to is welcome in the circumstances.]

Who would-- never mind. I can readily imagine King Somnus or Felix's reactions.

[And heaven forbid anyone take either of them for reckless idiots. Nuadha snorts softly and heads towards the beach, fireworks in tow.]

The view will be better by the lake, anyway.

It's proper to give full attention to a performance.

[But the warmth in the words makes it more than clear that Nuadha's interest couldn't be called 'proper' by a long stretch.

He's absolutely well aware that Baldr's amusement is at his expense, though. He tries to level a dry glance in his direction, but it's hard to muster when he's in such a relaxed mood. Much easier to reach up and try to pinch Baldr's cheek lightly the way Felix had the other day. It was quite a good idea, actually.]

He understates it. Don't let your guard down, Felix.

I may have to ask him. I wouldn't be surprised if he were trying to find something to suit his customers' taste. We'd buy more that way.

It'd help if we knew precisely what his powers amounted to in the first place. He injured Hubert and certainly seems to have some powerful influence over Heisenberg. But I'm not sure precise what the scope of its abilities are.

[ She squints at Nuadha uncertainly for a moment, like she's trying to place herself back in the waking world, then she groans and rubs her face. ]

It's better than tossing and turning in the dormitory...

[ She stretches and the end of her sentence trails into a yawn. ]

... though I'm hardly getting much more sleep up here.

[As any good baker (or parent) knows, baking takes time. The little oven might be magic but patience is still a virtue when creating delicious baked goods, sentient or not.

Time ticks by- five minutes. Then ten, then fifteen and a full twenty minutes after Hubert slid the dough into the little pre-heated over it starts to vibrate and glow with sparkling flame-colored lights. The little oven jumps and wiggles, twisting slightly off the ground as it the oven itself has a life of its own and it is just so excited it can’t contain itself.

Finally, the oven door springs open and a freshly baked cookie leaps from the fire. They look up at Hubert and Felix, give a courteous bow then fully turn their attention to Hubert.]

Hello, Father! My name is Fruit Tea Cookie and it is a pleasure to meet you.

Felix does happen to relax when he notices that the man isn't going to argue against it, though. And he has taken notice the other had at least brought up the subject instead of recklessly pursuing it. So, progress on another end.

[The nightmares are getting worse, and Hubert wakes up from the dream of the pit with a small cry, covering his mouth. Only a few hours of sleep again... but again, he's worked with less.

First thing's first, time to warn the tower of what Happened yesterday, now that Fruit Tea has had a day to adjust to being born.

So he Warps notes to his fellows:]

Yesterday I conducted a small experiment alongside Felix, using magic baking ingredients that I suspect Garfield acquired from Red Velvet Cookie's world. This experiment seems to have been far more successful than could have ever been expected- a cookie by the name of Fruit Tea Cookie is now among us and answers to me as a father figure. Please do not be startled if you see them. They seem to be an adult in mind and body, and so I am allowing them to come and go as they wish.
