it's finally over
[Twenty-three people wake up in a small crater in a valley. There is no tower in sight, only a half-finished mansion and a scattered mix of decimated houses and reconstructed ones. The Fantasy Costco, exactly as it stood on the bank of the lake, stands now next to the crater, as if nothing happened. Something terrible happened here, fairly recently. But it's healing. And you finally can, too.
It's raining, but not like the storms that had rocked the Thanatos Institute. This is cool, and refreshing, and full of hope.
You're free. And you're together.
Welcome, to The Duke's village.]
((OOC: Thank you for all of your patience and flexibility! This is the penultimate log for Ars Arcana. You're free to tag this as much as you'd like, even after the Golden End log goes up.
All of the player characters' personal belongings can be found either in the crater with you or inside the Fantasy Costco, which is where all pets have been held safe and sound.))

[Man this rain feels good.]
Everyone, all of us,
It's so dumb,
I wish I could've told you just how much,
Weirdly fun it's been here!
Tower's gone,
Done forever,
And all that really matters,
Is that you're all of you here,
Everyone's here, my friends,
Well, mostly we're friends-
[He's- sung this before, sort of. But this time he'll get to the important part.]
You know, you a-a-are my best friends in the world,
You're all my best friends in the world,
That's ri-i-ight, I'm talkin' bout all the worlds-

[Mei comes up from behind him, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. For someone whose canon only really has the one musical number, she does fall into the habit easily enough. She's holding out his sword -- he'll note that it's not the one she was fighting with before.]
I want to sing your song with you, if that's all right for us to do.
Fern-san!

[But that could be fixed easily. The armor dissipated as it was converted to light and magic, Somnus himself appearing in human form--with a faint blue-white glow persistent around him. You know, like a normal ghost.]
That was...remarkable. And not at all an experience I shall ever seek to repeat, in any fashion whatsoever.

Azul laughs, but it's a much lighter one this time. A big, genuine smile is on his face for the moment as he takes it all in. His hat and both suit jackets are off, sleeves rolled up, letting the rain soak him as he looks up to the sky. It's absolutely refreshing. ]

The rain that comes down is soothing to him even if it does not immediately dispel all the physical aches after everything.

But now, not for the first or last time, she's a normal girl who was plucked from where she came from and dropped in over her head. And for a little while, all she does is cry.
She'll kneel there for a while, then drag herself to her feet, dust off that nice dress, and use Hubert's staff as a walking stick to go check on everyone else.]

Katsuya doesn't approach anyone, but he really seems to be recovering his strength. If anyone does approach, he waves tiredly]
Sorry for not being the most sociable right now. I have another thing to deal similar to this fight with Death and I doubt I'll get much of a break before being plunged into that. I just need to rest for a bit.

The man driving the covered wooden carriage is tremendous in size, his clothes ill-fitting but noble, and his bare feet exposed to the rainy, temperate air. He has a hooded jacket on to protect his hair and face from the rain, and he seems to be humming to himself, as he pulls the reins up and brings the horse to a stop at the edge of the crater.
He pushes back the hood just enough to reveal his clean-shaven, cherubic face, and clasps his soft hands together in excitement.]
I had a feeling you would be turning up here soon. What a pleasure it is to see that my dear friend's plans were able to facilitate the arrival of all of you.

Susan doesn't really know what to do, at this point. There's an awful lot of tearful reunions going on, and she doesn't really know any of these people - even the ones that she thinks she ought to. There's also not really anywhere to go. She doesn't know what this village is; who knows what would happen?
She just sort of wanders to the side of the crater and sits, pulling her borrowed black coat around her. She wonders if Mitzi will still be there, if she ever manages to go back.]
