[Yesterday was, to say the least, an eventful time. 21 people waking up in an alarming kidnapping situation, tempers got heated, salt was thrown, the usual flavor of shenanigans.

Your Alchemist made his appearance, got into several arguments, scruffed a teen and nailed a god. All in all, a productive time! It doesn’t seem like he’ll be making any more public appearances this week but he did say to give him a call.

If you don't want to converse with the Alchemist, there's a whole tower to explore! Check out all the dusty nooks and crannies, read some smutty literature, try to build a death ray, take a cozy bath- the Montessori method of learning. Curiously, starting on Monday there are mysterious leaflet catalogs scattered in several rooms of the tower. There’s no shop name on it, but there are pictures of a variety of fun and fanciful items, just a preview of the many rare and/or exotic goods you could get from one of the shop's Grand Opening Sale blind boxes. There is also a large wooden chest that has appeared in the Entrance Hall right next to the grand entrance doors, despite the fact that they remain locked. A locked mailbox hangs on the wall above the box, along with several envelopes. The mailbox says "CATALOG ORDERS", and there is a handwritten note that adds: "Write your name on the envelope as well as your order. INCLUDE PAYMENT, or it's no deal. <3"

In related news, many of you will also be receiving mysterious gold coins on top of your trunk – maybe this is the payment referenced?

Well, yeah, that, but right now I'm thinking more about her "mad cartography skills."

The tower is not that difficult to navigate. No secret passages as of yet.

Yeah, I was just hoping there would be something we overlooked. Gotham Academy is full of them, and if anything didn't match the measurements on the little mirror map, then... secret passage.

Makes sense. If the inhabitant of this tower was originally a mage, it would stand to reason that such passage would open with magic of some kind. Have you tried that?

Well... finding passages would be the first thing. Then if it takes magic, I guess I could just... teach myself some magic?

I've never taught a human magic, but an attempt could be made. [He's never taught anyone magic, way to start out on hard mode.]

At least it's not super complicated magic? Oh, this is so weird to be talking about.

We can start with something basic. I make no promises, though. Midgard has very sparse magical traditions for a reason.

That's fine, I'm not super attached to the idea anyway. Besides, we'll only need it if I can't find a physical trigger.

Hubert mentioned he was unsuccessful in his search for secret passages or rooms as well.

And here I thought the Alchemist wouldn't be the kind of guy to have a boring, straightforward castle. So much for the Montessori approach.

The Alchemist said that word as well, 'montessori.' What is it?

It's a type of school on Earth. I think the idea is that the teachers sort of let the students learn what they want to learn? I've never exactly been to one.

That sounds dangerous. If our tutors took that approach, I don't think Thor would have learned much more than which end of the sword was the pointy part.

Hey, don't need to know the pointy end when you're using a hammer.

[ She shakes her head. ]

Again, though - not an expert.

I suppose that's what happens when the tutors insisted he learn such things as history and literature.

History and literature are important. I say, unbiased, as a former history tutor. Even if it means small sacrifices elsewhere in an education.

Thor could do with a little less time in the sparing field in favor of more academic pursuits.
