[Yesterday was, to say the least, an eventful time. 21 people waking up in an alarming kidnapping situation, tempers got heated, salt was thrown, the usual flavor of shenanigans.

Your Alchemist made his appearance, got into several arguments, scruffed a teen and nailed a god. All in all, a productive time! It doesn’t seem like he’ll be making any more public appearances this week but he did say to give him a call.

If you don't want to converse with the Alchemist, there's a whole tower to explore! Check out all the dusty nooks and crannies, read some smutty literature, try to build a death ray, take a cozy bath- the Montessori method of learning. Curiously, starting on Monday there are mysterious leaflet catalogs scattered in several rooms of the tower. There’s no shop name on it, but there are pictures of a variety of fun and fanciful items, just a preview of the many rare and/or exotic goods you could get from one of the shop's Grand Opening Sale blind boxes. There is also a large wooden chest that has appeared in the Entrance Hall right next to the grand entrance doors, despite the fact that they remain locked. A locked mailbox hangs on the wall above the box, along with several envelopes. The mailbox says "CATALOG ORDERS", and there is a handwritten note that adds: "Write your name on the envelope as well as your order. INCLUDE PAYMENT, or it's no deal. <3"

In related news, many of you will also be receiving mysterious gold coins on top of your trunk – maybe this is the payment referenced?

I do tend to like bodyguards. [Woof. She shakes her head, trying to manually dislodge thoughts of Sky that are already drifting back. Girl's got baggage.]

It might be more fun to ditch him, on second thought.

[Ditch Mako???] Are you sure? I mean, if you like bodyguards, you'll like Mako! He's really cool and tough and a great detective but actually a really softie on the inside. [boy he sure does sound like he's fond of that bodyguard. then he grins, conspiratorially] Just don't tell him I said that. He's also kinda shy.

[... Wu is not helping this case. Stella sighs, leaning back against a shelf.]

And handsome?

[oh, well are we leaning on shelves, now? GREAT Wu is going to lean sideways against the bookshelf next to Stella, arm resting on it so he can rest the side of his cheek against his fist]

Oh, really handsome! Mako's the definition of a guy who can take a punch! He's got a strong jaw and black hair and brown eyes...and his eyebrows do this weird kind a pointy thing but he definitely pulls it off. His shoulders are really broad--trying to find suits for those is a job and a half. But he's definitely a real looker! [Wu grins, still, just...excited to be talking about Mako???] And he's a firebender! He's so cool!

[I'm so sorry about this, because Fate: The Winx Saga is one of those CW-style shows, so of course Stella's super into this. She listens intently, nodding along, building an image of this Mako in her mind, and at one point, rubbing her lips together.]

Mmm. Okay. I see the appeal. He can come.

What is a firebender? [she's straight-up imagining one of those human fire jugglers rn]

[it's fine, Wu is also super into Mako. He's just happy that she's changed her mind!]

Great! He'd be real bummed to be left behind, y'know. He'd never say it, but I'd know.

[as for that second bit, he blinks]

You don't know what a firebender is?

And we can't be bumming Mako. [not with how hot he sounds, at least.]

Is it one of those men who juggle sticks of fire? I fail to see how that would be useful for a bodyguard, but I wouldn't mind seeing it either.

I mean, some Firebenders do that, but they're most entertainers. Firebenders can control and produce fire.

Does that mean you don't know what Airbenders, Waterbenders or Earthbenders are either?

I'm guessing it means they're something like Air Fairies, Water Fairies, and Earth Fairies. [which probably sounds wild coming out of someones mouth, but for once, she isn't saying it like it's an insult.]

What about Mindbenders? Or Lightbenders?

[Fairies? Huh.]

No, but there is lighteningbending, metalbending and bloodbending. But that last one's illegal.

Basically the same thing-- minus the metal. We forbid blood magic, too. Fairies don't touch it-- but blood witches do.

It's the same kind of magic that The Alchemist seems to want to generate. And it can only be fueled by sacrifice. [Stella hesitates. She's better than what she's about to do, but old habits die hard. And without Sky, or her friends here-- well. One ally is better than none.

She thrusts her lower lip forward, pouting at him like a frightened puppy.]

It's terrifying.

Bloodbending is less about using blood to do things, and more about controlling people by bending the water in their blood.

[When she talks about the magic that the Alchemist wants to generate, feeling that frisson of fear slide down his spine...and he wraps his arms around himself a bit, shoulders hunching]

A metalbender can't use bloodbending, but if it's like what you're talking about with those witches... [he shudders] It's really terrifying.

[he's maybe a little paler. like girl he is super scared]

[god, wu, that's embarrassing. that was like, a chance more than she should have given and he failed it. She sighs.]

Well. With any hope, your handsome bodyguard will show up and whisk us away to safety. [or... she uses someone else as bait and sneaks away.]

We were talking about skin care products and he was really interested, but then we started talking about the Alchemist and he said that if anything happened, that I should stand behind him and he would protect me.

He's really cool and nice even if he doesn't know anything about skin care but he's willing to learn and that's what's really important.

Well. As long as he's willing to learn. That's what's important.

But are you sure he's all that powerful? He seemed like just... a guy. Nothing special.

Well...He's an officer of the law, right? He has to be powerful in some way. [The police are mostly benders where he's from so....]

Does he? He hasn't done anything very impressive yet.

[not that he's had reason to, but... She snaps, and her eyes turn yellow. She holds up a hand, and a bright light-- possibly a little too bright-- shines in her palm.]

[Wu has to wince a bit at the light--but once he adjusts, his eyes widen]

...woah! That's amazing!

[HE IS INCREDIBLY IMPRESSED] How are you doing that?

[She snaps again, and the light fades, in little sparkles that fall around her like a reverse Cinderella.]

The royal line of Solaria is made up of light fairies.

I've never seen anyone do that where I'm from! I mean, the avatar can make their eyes glow when they go into the Avatar State but other than that, there really isn't any bending that deals with light. Well, except lightningbending, but that's not really the same, and I've definitely never seen someone do what you did with the light just in your hand like that!

Can you do anything else with it?
