Week 2 Monday Night Pajama Party!!

[HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE PAJAMA PARTY! They’ve really gone all out here, because the tables have all been pushed up to the wall (thank you, Finn) to make room on the floor for pillows and blankets and some cushions, too. There’s also streamers and other decorations hung up for a party-type atmosphere, as well as nice quality baijuand plum wine chilled and set out along with glasses for consumption. Next to that, there’s a variety of hors d’oeuvres to be noshed on, along with whatever anyone else has brought. There’s several balls of light floating around, courtesy of Stella, to give the place a nice, cozy glow.

Feel free to make yourself comfortable, grab some hors d’oeuvres and something to drink, and settle in for some sleepover activities or just sitting around and mingling. If you’ve brought something for the party, you can add it to the list here, or if there’s a game or an activity you’d like to host, feel free to add it on to this top level and it’ll get added to the navigation! [ Listen... Bryn likes food. She's always interested in new, weird methods of preparing it. She's far from a picky eater. If you put something in front of her, chances are good that she's going to eat it.

But... right now she's just sort of stood staring with evident confusion at the potatoes. The raw, completely uncooked potatoes. ]

... why?

I wonder if it's customary to eat them like that in someone's world.

Oh, do you think?

[ ... She shouldn't. She really shouldn't, but... ]

I'll try one of them if you will.

They're with the other food items.

[So they must be? No one would do an illogical thing like leaving things here that weren't for eating, right? Maybe they just look like uncooked potatoes?

On that basis he picks one up just a little dubiously. It feels like a raw potato.]

[ Bryn picks up one as well, looking way too gleeful at the prospect of biting into a raw potato. ]

Shall we count together and start on three?

[Some latent survival instinct might be telling Nuadha this is a terrible idea. Luckily he's mostly stifled those, so:]

That's acceptable. One... two...

... Three!

[ And without even a beat of hesitation she just. Bites into the raw fucking potato. ]

[Nuadha's fully committed, no matter how stupid this is. He takes a very determined bite.

...Yeah, that's a raw potato.

He's just chewing with grim, stoic resignation now.]

[ The potato makes the same sort of brisk cruch she's come to expect from apples but the juice that floods her mouth is very much not. She's gone whole hog and taken a huge bite and as she stands there chewing... and chewing... it begins to dawn on her that something is very wrong.

With a mouth full of raw potato: ]

... I believe we may have made a terrible mistake.

[Nuadha is very marginally too well-raised to talk with his mouth full. But he can manage a potato-y growl of agreement before he swallows with very deep regret.]

No. Whoever put them there was the one who made the mistake.

[He will remember this affront. But he's glancing around to see if anyone witnessed that aside from her. There's nowhere to hide a whole-ass potato with a bite taken out of it, and his bruised dignity can't handle more of this, so after a moment more to think about every pointless way he's used his powers since coming to this party the incriminating potato in his hand turns into a crumpled napkin in a little shimmer of light.]

[ Unfortunately committed to this line of nonsense, Bryn continues soldiering through with chewing her mouthful of raw potato. She manages to get it to a point where she probably won't choke on it if she swallows it and manages to choke it down. ]

Who would do something like this? Is this a matter of intentional sabotage, do you think?

[ With no dignity to speak of, Bryn just. Sneaks her potato back onto the plate in the hopes that everyone will be too baffled to ask any questions. ]

Very possibly someone's sense of humor.

[It doesn't quite seem like Loki's style. But Nuadha will quickly scan the nearby people again just in case someone looks like a potential potato suspect.]

[ She squints out onto the crowd of partygoers with a similarly suspicious eye. ]

I suppose there are far worse things to trick people into eating...

[ fkglhjfgkk he's not too far away and when he realizes what she's saying that to he... feels really embarrassed. ]

I... may have misunderstood the intention of bringing your own food...

Ah, so you were the one who provided these? Is there something special about them?

[ She has such faith in him... ]

You see, where I’m from if you say “party” the assumption is the cooking will be done at the party, usually either around a fire or in a communal dish of sorts like a soup… Everyone tries to bring something but it’s… expected to be an ingredient, not… [ He gestures ]

So I’m afraid I just… got a little mixed up.

Oh...! That's... an easy enough mistake to make, I suppose?

[ She sounds a little doubtful, but not like she's making fun of him. She picks up one of the potatoes and squints at it suspiciously. ]

And it's not as though there's anything stopping us from cooking them now.

I... I don't know how...

[ A beat. Then with a splutter of shock: ]

You don't know how to cook potatoes?!

[twibeast]

[ s...weat... ]

Well Sir Jasper showed me a little bit but uh...

I don't... really know how to cook... at all besides that...

How have you survived by yourself for this long?!

[ She's AGHAST ]

Oh um... well, I don't need to eat to survive at all actually.

I only eat because I enjoy it, and usually my people are very insistent on cooking for me when I'm home, even when I expressed interest in learning myself.

You've never had reason to learn, then... I suppose that makes sense.

[ Then she huffs. ]

How much more convenient that would be, though! I enjoy eating as well, but it would certainly solve a lot of problems if I only had to do so when I felt like it.
