[On Sunday morning, there is a small gift waiting for the early risers in the tower: a dull lead key (don't lick it), dangling from a length of twine tied to the wooden beam across the ceiling at the cross section of the four dorms. Upon further inspection it has a particular symbol on the back half and a note that reads "Good job. Here's your reward". The note is signed Lord H. The key goes to sixth floor, where there is the same symbol etched above the keyhole on the lock.

The new floor is even more grand than the previous ballroom, a full theatre for their enjoyment. But it doesn't take away the burning sting of certain people who would have loved to see it.]

I try to. I'd like to do more than aid in solving murders. I'm a detective, but I find no satisfaction in doing that at all.

[He's devoted to his job, but being locked into a place and watching people kill each other, and then having to solve those murders, doesn't fill him with pride at all]

I needed a stable, well-paying job so my brother wouldn't have anything to worry about -- I was going to take care of him. Since my father used to be in the force, I had a way to get in easier than I would otherwise.

So it was mostly out of pragmatism.

[It was mostly for Tatsuya's sake. There was also trying to find out the truth behind his father's dishonorable firing, but Tatsuya was the main reason why]

[They're there, but they certainly don't interact or even try to have a pretence of a family with Katsuya and Tatsuya. Katsuya still provides for them, though. They're family, no matter how much Katsuya resents them for their indifference]

I mean, I've done some cleaning and laundry and stuff back in my original time, but definitely not with a washboard and bucket. And at Ougai-san's estate, Fumi-san does all the laundry. She's the one who taught me how to use a wood stove.
