[On Sunday morning, there is a small gift waiting for the early risers in the tower: a dull lead key (don't lick it), dangling from a length of twine tied to the wooden beam across the ceiling at the cross section of the four dorms. Upon further inspection it has a particular symbol on the back half and a note that reads "Good job. Here's your reward". The note is signed Lord H. The key goes to sixth floor, where there is the same symbol etched above the keyhole on the lock.

The new floor is even more grand than the previous ballroom, a full theatre for their enjoyment. But it doesn't take away the burning sting of certain people who would have loved to see it.]

Oh, Felix-san! I was just thinking that I've never tried to study in here. It might be useful if we had more people who know how to make useful potions and things...

There might be stuff in the library about them too. Though, I'm not sure if this room has any instructions on how to mix with what potion.

Probably not. The library's got all kinds of things for learning all this magic stuff, though. We didn't have anything like it at home.

Hmph. I'd be surprised if you did since I haven't heard you talk about magic from your world, other than time travel nonsense.

There is the Royal School of Sorcery in Fhirdiad, so I'm sure they'll have a place chalk full of books dedicated to learning magic. And of course Garreg Mach has a library of its own too.

That's true. I've never seen anyone else do the kinds of things Charlie-san can do, so I don't know what magic there is other than the spirits I can see. Your world must have a lot if there's so much to learn!

It does to a point. That's where the Reason and Faith magic come in. Though I'm almost sure there's no one I know of that can pull off what you can do.

I guess that would make sense if it's something your home doesn't have. Though where I'm from, it used to be really common and then got less so over time. In the past, where I went, it was rare but still recognized, and in the present where I'm from, it's just kind of weird and scary to people.

Oh! Then maybe you're right. Ougai-san said the decline was because of industrialization separating people from the spiritual because all the youkai were driven off from the cities or something? Because I don't only see ghosts, I can see other spirits as well. But I guess there's nothing stopping things changing when you put it that way.

Can you tell me more about Crests? That's what you have, right?

That's right. Crests are passed down through bloodlines and give people special abilities. So it can give someone like, for example, above average strength. They can also manifest as either Minor or Major forms of a Crest.

Oh, so it's some kind of special ability besides the magic anyone can learn! And it's just for the people who already have it!

It's not really all that common now, and just mostly centered around noble families.

I wonder why it's only them? Or were the noble families decided because they had the Crests?

With Crests came power and standing, so it was easier for those with them to stay in a position of nobility.

It makes sense when you put it that way, but it sounds a little sad, too.

What changed is that Fodlan now has someone in power who is looking to make things different. In various ways, but this is one of them.

That sounds really good, Felix-san. A way to make sure everybody's happy would be nice after everything you've told me about home.

Huh? I guess when you think about it, that's how politics works everywhere. Some people are upset, but the supporters are happy. Although I can't imagine you and your friends getting drunk at an important function and creeping on the servers, so that's already a big improvement on the politicians I've met.
