[On Sunday morning, there is a small gift waiting for the early risers in the tower: a dull lead key (don't lick it), dangling from a length of twine tied to the wooden beam across the ceiling at the cross section of the four dorms. Upon further inspection it has a particular symbol on the back half and a note that reads "Good job. Here's your reward". The note is signed Lord H. The key goes to sixth floor, where there is the same symbol etched above the keyhole on the lock.

The new floor is even more grand than the previous ballroom, a full theatre for their enjoyment. But it doesn't take away the burning sting of certain people who would have loved to see it.]

Not really. I just wanted to practise with the spell I learned from Hubert-san. It's better if I know how to handle it, right?

Oh! Yeah, probably. Mine's a lot less dangerous, it's just wind.

[Maybe not the best offensive spell (he doesn't understand that a wind attack definitely still hurts anyway), but Bruno had been a little nervous about the others.]

But I've practiced it a bunch anyway. It's kinda fun.

It sounds fun! What do you do to train?

Just...cast it, were we supposed to do something else?

Not really. I just wondered if there was anything special. Like how I set a little campfire out here since I didn't want to wreck anything.

Oh! Well, usually I do it down here at the beach. The sand makes it easier to see what the wind's doing.

That makes sense! The sand, the trees, the water -- that would all really help. And at least you can't set something on fire by accident. I just thought this one might be useful, but I guess they all are.

I think yours is a little more useful. I just couldn't really see myself actually shooting fire or lightning at somebody.

[He guesses that the wind was also meant for a fight in theory; it just doesn't seem all that dangerous still.]

Plus, I usually have matches on me anyway.

I can't either, but maybe I might have to. It's the same reason I started learning to fight, even if I won't use it if we get back home. Whichever one home is. ...And it might save on matches or fuel, too!

Heh...yeah, that's true. Maybe I'll work on mine a little. I've only been practicing with the wind, but I took notes on everything, so I...think I could probably do it outside of class.

[Or he'll, like, set himself on fire, nbd]

It's kind of amazing that we can learn these things that aren't even from our homes, isn't it?

[He trails off for a moment, looking down at his hands. Doesn't cast any spells, though.]

But just because you can heal now...it's not gonna be your fault if anyone gets hurt and you don't get to them in time. That's just...kinda how things have been going around here.

[Bruno's quiet for a moment, looking out over the water, then stoops to grab a stick - not out of the fire - and offer it to Mei.]

[Mei smiles, gently takes the stick, and waves it out.]

Here! Here, Chiffon-chan!

[She tosses it with a little laugh.]

He really seems to like you.

Yeah. He likes you too, though.

[He leans down to pet Chiffon a little as he comes back, before picking up the stick and throwing it again.]

I'm just...glad he's bouncing back. He was really down for a while, after...

You're right. I don't know what we're going to do if we make it through, with everyone who's gone. Unless they really do find that way back that Zenos-san said he was looking for.

I guess he's done it before. But...I don't know if he'll be able to bring everyone else with him.

Even with the kind of power the Patron has?
