[On Sunday morning, there is a small gift waiting for the early risers in the tower: a dull lead key (don't lick it), dangling from a length of twine tied to the wooden beam across the ceiling at the cross section of the four dorms. Upon further inspection it has a particular symbol on the back half and a note that reads "Good job. Here's your reward". The note is signed Lord H. The key goes to sixth floor, where there is the same symbol etched above the keyhole on the lock.

The new floor is even more grand than the previous ballroom, a full theatre for their enjoyment. But it doesn't take away the burning sting of certain people who would have loved to see it.]

Um, do I know you? Or are you from when things happened before in this tower?

[There's a rustle of heavy fabric, as if someone bowed back.

Then, very quietly, the sound of something hard, like a walking stick, tapping three times on the floor.]

...Three? Um... there are three of you here right now? Sorry, usually I'd be able to see you. Or three of something else? Three months? ...Three times ago?

[The spirit seems to pause for a moment, then taps twice, as if to say 'no.']

Oh. [slump] Sorry. Uh... so if two is no, is three yes, or is three just three?

[One. Then two. As if demonstrating a baseline for yes and no.]

But before she can ask any more questions, the energy in the theatre shifts. Where there had been kind of a sense of fondness coming from her companion, suddenly a chill runs down her spine.

She's being watched. As if a great eye just suddenly turned toward her.

The spirit she was speaking to vanishes abruptly, leaving behind only the smell of wet ink and old parchment and a rustle of fabric that ruffles her hair.]
