week 6
[On Sunday morning, there is a small gift waiting for the early risers in the tower: a dull lead key (don't lick it), dangling from a length of twine tied to the wooden beam across the ceiling at the cross section of the four dorms. Upon further inspection it has a particular symbol on the back half and a note that reads "Good job. Here's your reward". The note is signed Lord H. The key goes to sixth floor, where there is the same symbol etched above the keyhole on the lock.
The new floor is even more grand than the previous ballroom, a full theatre for their enjoyment. But it doesn't take away the burning sting of certain people who would have loved to see it.]

That's easy enough to imagine.
[ ... he does not mean just potential shenanigans in the palace. Both things, really. ]
I doubt you minded regardless. He's shown himself to be a capable man, for however easy it is for him to give into frivolity.
no subject
[Well. It's an old complaint, more reflex than anything. Nuadha gives a little sigh and shoots Felix a long-suffering look for that scoff. He's looking forward to laughing if Felix ever finds himself on the wrong side of that glitter canon.]
It doesn't matter now. So it's no wonder he's no longer containing himself.
[Should he warn Felix? No, absolutely not.]
no subject
[ His lips do twitch upwards into a little but brief teasing smirk in a blink it and miss it when he is given a long-suffering look, though.
Yeah, if he gets glitter cannon'd he'll absolutely deserve it and to be laughed at. ]
I suppose it really isn't much of a surprise when you do put it like that.
[ He begins to pack up some of the things, figuring he's not going to stick around here all day, and probably grab something to eat. ]
Since I'm done here, I'm going to make something. If you want to eat, you can come along or not. Your choice.
no subject
I'd be glad to come along.
[And it serves his first reason for coming to look for Felix in any case.]
no subject
[ If Felix packs up much more swiftly once Nuadha confirms he's coming along with, it is surely just your imagination. ]
Have anything you're specifically in the mood for?
no subject
Ah... meat?
no subject
Though, he's going to allow an amused smirk appear on his face. ]
Yeah, we can go with some meat.
[ No offense Nuadha, he actually finds it endearing he answered like that? ]
Probably some turkey this time to spice things up. If you've got a preference for a different kind, I might be feeling generous enough to pick something else, though.
no subject
...I have no objections. I'm taking advantage of your generosity as it stands. Although I've been observing enough in the kitchen to be of some use.
no subject
[ Felix does chance a look towards Nuadha, and boy he does not quite see it because his face is turned downwards. But if he did? He'd definitely think it'd be nice.
Anyway, he wraps up the packing sooner than later thanks to the other man's assistance, and begins to head towards the kitchen proper. ]
But if you feel so strongly about it, I won't object to you lending a hand.

It's an important life skill, after all. [A very deliberate echo of Felix's words, if he remembers them.] I prefer learning through action. I assume you're the same.
no subject
[ Felix states, knowing that he is the one who has said those words. Though it's not like to stroke his own ego, it's more that he's pleased Nuadha recalled them. ]
I am. There's no point in simply watching...by taking action that is how you truly learn anything. Especially in something like swordsmanship.
[ Not that cooking has anything to do with swordsmanship...! ]
no subject
Yes. In mirristry as well. The fundamentals are important, but it's no substitute for practical experience.
[And doubly so in cooking. He really is starting to have personal resentment of the vague recipe books he's found in the library.]
no subject
[ Clearly the vague recipe books are the reason so many crimes were committed in there. But once they're in the kitchen proper, Felix will get right to setting up things immediately. ]

[Nuadha follows gamely, waiting just a little out of the way as he watches for something he can do.]

Children in Faerghus learn how to wield a weapon first before anything else.
[ Before reading or writing, anything. He is not joking in the slightest. Anyway, Felix goes for the meat soon enough. ]
If you want, you can grab some spices.
no subject
[Nuadha pauses for a second, but a look of stubborn challenge crosses his face as he heads for the cupboard. He remembers what Felix used last time, so it should likely be similar. He'll just pick up a few more for good measure.]
no subject
[ Felix doesn't quite hide the slight smile when he notices Nuadha go straight for the cupboard, but he will be grabbing the actual meat now. ]
Which of course includes being prepared and self-sufficient so if we need to be we can handle whatever it is without support.
[ Like maybe needing to hunt, etc. ]
no subject
[Not that Nuadha is one to talk. Although his layers are considerably lighter, and nothing is fur.
He catches that smile from the corner of his eye and doesn't quite huff. At least Felix isn't quite laughing at him. He's maybe allowed, anyway.]
Survival skills... that's a little unexpected from nobility. But useful. Hunting and tracking, those sorts of things?
