week 1
[Yesterday was, to say the least, an eventful time. 21 people waking up in an alarming kidnapping situation, tempers got heated, salt was thrown, the usual flavor of shenanigans.
Your Alchemist made his appearance, got into several arguments, scruffed a teen and nailed a god. All in all, a productive time! It doesn’t seem like he’ll be making any more public appearances this week but he did say to give him a call.
If you don't want to converse with the Alchemist, there's a whole tower to explore! Check out all the dusty nooks and crannies, read some smutty literature, try to build a death ray, take a cozy bath- the Montessori method of learning. Curiously, starting on Monday there are mysterious leaflet catalogs scattered in several rooms of the tower. There’s no shop name on it, but there are pictures of a variety of fun and fanciful items, just a preview of the many rare and/or exotic goods you could get from one of the shop's Grand Opening Sale blind boxes. There is also a large wooden chest that has appeared in the Entrance Hall right next to the grand entrance doors, despite the fact that they remain locked. A locked mailbox hangs on the wall above the box, along with several envelopes. The mailbox says "CATALOG ORDERS", and there is a handwritten note that adds: "Write your name on the envelope as well as your order. INCLUDE PAYMENT, or it's no deal. <3"
In related news, many of you will also be receiving mysterious gold coins on top of your trunk – maybe this is the payment referenced?

(( OOC: This will be the last mod post for this week! Feel free to start submitting catalog orders for any threads that aren't with the Alchemist. This is a peace week, so get all that CR while you can! ))

Now, people might have already noticed Bruno lingering in front of the windows from time to time. He finds it hard to just walk past like it's nothing. Today, though - today he spends most of the morning standing and staring out of one. It's awkward; the stairwell's uninviting, he's uncharacteristically in the way, and he's got an arm wedged up into the narrow windowsill to rest his chin upon in a position that doesn't look even remotely comfortable. But, in the narrow beam of sunlight that falls on his face, his eyes are closed in contentment.
Eventually he has to move on, of course, but the glimpse of sunlight's left him in a pleasant mood. His baked-in anxieties about getting caught outside of the walls are starting to fade a little bit as well. Nothing bad has happened yet, right...? Today, he sits in one of the actual chairs in the library rather than hiding on the floor by a shelf, reading one of the romances.]
Do you...think maybe we could take some of these books with us, when we leave?
[In the evening, he'll be in the kitchen. He's...sort of not slinking around? He's a little jittery, quickly glancing over his shoulder every few seconds, but he smiles when someone enters.]
You, uh...you want some hot chocolate? It's a little weird, but it's...you know, chocolate, it should be okay.

[Makes sense, he guesses?]
There's not even any good cheese! But, you know, chocolate's good, can't go wrong with chocolate...

[He sort of thought everyone did? But Bruno's never left the Encanto, he guesses, so what does he know]
What do you put in it, then?

[He seems to consider for a moment.]
Yeah? Yeah, that sounds good. Thanks.

[Bruno beams even at that small acceptance.]
I-I used to do this with all the kids in the house, all the time. This isn't exactly what I'm used to, but we can make it work.

[Hm]
Oh, uh- human kids or rat kids?

[He didn't really get to be around for Antonio growing up. He feels bad about that, he thinks they would've really gotten along...
Anyway. Not that him referring to rat babies that way is exactly out of the question, but:]
I don’t think chocolate is good for rats.

If anything, it should be part of the payment for sticking us here in the first place. We're owed much more than just books.

[That's all true! It is absolutely not the real reason though!]

[ He'd hate that- Azul absolutely loves books, honestly. ]
Well, there are no rules against it currently- depending on what is said about that, I'm sure it would be fine.

You... put cheese in it.
[...]
Oh, is it the sort of cheese that goes into cheesecake and such, then?
no subject
[He says, with a tone sort of like "why wouldn't I?"]
I'm...not sure, what do you put in cheesecake?

Well, we can't all make books disappear. I could hide maybe two or three in my ruana - [It's like way too big for him.] - but that's it. That'll last me maybe a few months, if I'm really good about pacing myself, which I'm usually not.
