[On Sunday morning, there is a small gift waiting for the early risers in the tower: a dull lead key (don't lick it), dangling from a length of twine tied to the wooden beam across the ceiling at the cross section of the four dorms. Upon further inspection it has a particular symbol on the back half and a note that reads "Good job. Here's your reward". The note is signed Lord H. The key goes to sixth floor, where there is the same symbol etched above the keyhole on the lock.

The new floor is even more grand than the previous ballroom, a full theatre for their enjoyment. But it doesn't take away the burning sting of certain people who would have loved to see it.]

[in the morning, after the meeting, Hubert heads straight to the Tinkerer's Haven, goggles over his eyes as he sets to work with some of the various metals and an array of crystals. While they give off a magical energy, it's not nearly as oppressive as the crest stone at least? There's also a chemical smell since he seems to have brought a few things from the Potion's Room here to work with.

By the afternoon he takes a break and if you're outside you can catch him, of all things, at the archery range? Taking shots with the training bows?? And he's... actually really really good??? Wtf...

And in the evening he slips away to the boiler room, reminded of it by Olive's maps. This looks like a good place for the water rune to be hidden, and even if not he's curious how it works... and it's... structural integrity.]

[ Felix comes out later in the day outside anyways, so it's fairly easy for him to catch Hubert at work firing those arrows.

He'll wait far after the other man has finished up nocking an arrow and letting it fly. No need to cause any foolishness following a rather productive meeting. He has also brought some things, thinking about spending a time with target practice himself. ]

Been at it for long, Vestra?

Not very. Perhaps an hour? It's been some time since I last used a bow... I was curious if I still had the nack for it.

[and it's clear that while his aim is quite good his stamina can't keep up. He's already sweating a little]

[ Felix goes to set down a blanket which has some drinks and snacks before he brings out the training bow he's brought along. He also takes in Hubert's state before he sets himself up in front of a target. ]

As for what kind of challenge...going until one tires out isn't exactly fun, so he comes up with something 'simple' enough. ]

Magic can only be used so often. In a drawn out battle it is always good to have a backup.

[He lowers the bow with a sigh, rubbing his shoulder]

I do not have the arm strength to keep it up for long though.

Oh, yeah, I noticed I'd get tired after practicing with the wind thing. Or the healing thing, probably, but I haven't really had much of anything to practice that on, heh...

[Which is for the best! Though, he does wish they could find someone in time to help, even just once...]

Uh - I just wanted to say thank you. For teaching us like that. I've always thought of my magic as something...you know, creepy at best and completely life-ruining at once? It's nice to know that I could...maybe do something else. That I can.

[He looks surprised at first, then softens, nodding]

I've found a skill you learn on your own merits always feels more satisfying than something just handed to you by luck or genetics. I'm... glad. Of course it is also simply practical to have more healers here.

[His attempt to make the lessons sound self serving doesn't really land with how pleased he looks]

Yeah, yeah, of course. Who knows what could happen?

[He laughs, a little nervously, but the final class really did sort of improve his mood. His whole life, he's just been the fortuneteller, and now...he can also do other things.]

Most of the stuff I like to do is stuff I just taught myself. Not magic or anything, just...art, that kinda stuff. It's not impressive, but it feels good to be able to get better at things - really better, not just better at controlling it. Getting better at visions has mostly just meant I don't pass out from doing them anymore.

Your gift does seem taxing from what I've seen. Have you used it again since that time?

Loki stands behind him, smirking like that asshole he is.]

[he startles with a breathy curse, turning to see who it is]

Well a warrior can't rely on magic alone.

[The knife disappears from the target and reappears in his hand.]

Though I didn't think you an archer.

When I was younger I dabbled in a few martial arts, but once I realized I had some skill in magic it was prudent to focus on that. There are only so many hours in the day for training, after all. Yet... I find I can't completely give it up.

It is important to be at least somewhat well rounded. Though I suppose I benefited from a few extra years you didn't have.

[He chuckles]

It is a bit much to compare legacy ghosts and so-called gods to a normal man. I don't even have a Crest. The indignity of it...

[the sarcasm is dripping from his words, but it's at least a joking sarcasm]

[So about that boiler room-

He's able to find the tunnel easily enough based on Olive's map- either via the storage room trap door or the hatch behind the tower. Once inside he'll be able to hear the rumble of the boiler and feel the warmth in the damp tunnel but there's no visible door that leads to a boiler room.

Instead there's a warm stone wall behind the ladder that leads down from the storage room.]

[he places his hands on the wall, trying to sense for any magical barriers like those that keep them out of locked floors.]

[There doesn't seem to be any magic barriers for once! Just good old fashioned rock.]

[He's on the same "level" as the room, so he attempts to Warp]

[He Warps past the wall and it is heckin' pitch black in here. It's also hotter than it was in the tunnel and, very near him, he can hear a low mechanical rumble not muffled by stone.]

[Man, making his staff was the smartest thing he's done here. He lights it up to try and see wtf he's doing, tho eerie green glow is not helping the spook factor. He likes the aesthetic regardless]
