week 2

[One week down and (if the Alchemist's promise is to be believed) just three more to go. In the past week royalty has been bullied, explicitly non-Satanic chairs were ordered and you began the pact-bonding process with your new proprietor of mercantile wares, ✨Garfield the Deals Warlock✨.

All in all, a surprisingly good week despite the kidnapping and looming threat of death. We'll see how long that lasts.

1. The Cloak of Duplication - An ancient vampiric artifact, when worn it changes your appearance and voice to perfectly mimic another individual of your choosing. (You still have to sell the act, though.) [5 coins] SOLD
2. The Battle Axe of Hatred - A sick as hell electric guitar with an energy that feels like it is powered by the screaming of an ancient and evil lord- or at least once was. It has a signature on the body that simply says "Ron" and looks like it might have been written in blood. [5 coins]

1. The Tingler - The whole hand tingles from wearing this ring, as if more blood rushes through the area. [2 coins]
2. Christine Jr. - A tiny red convertible. It's powered by pedals like a bicycle, with a steering wheel. For some reason it makes you think of old men in silly hats. [6 coins]

[On Monday, there are several deliveries piled up in the front hall. Separated into piles and marked with the name of who ordered them, the majority of them are blind boxes (a few had already arrived Sunday and this is the second, larger wave of shipments) but a few are marked with a "SPECIAL ORDER: FOR [NAME]" with the purchaser's name.

[Much like Monday, there are packages waiting for several people when people begin wandering to the entrance hall! Today's special orders are specifically for Bruno, Azul, Olive and Wu.]

[Sunday will find Wu walking around the Tower and putting up sheets of parchment with nails and a hammer he got from the tinkerer's shop because THERE'S NO OTHER WAY TO PIN STUFF UP RN. This man has clearly never handled a hammer or nails in his life--he's carrying around the leaflet of papers, the hammer, and a box of nails, and carefully, slowly tapping the nail into the top and bottom of the papers to hang them up, one by one.

If inspected the parchment reads:]

PAJAMA PARTY
You are cordially invited to a pajama party on Monday night starting at 6pm in the Great Hall. It's getting too boring around here, so we need something to spice it up! Wear your pajamas and bring a pillow and a blanket (and maybe a mattress if you want to be really comfortable) and get really for a good time! Baiju, plum wine and hors d'oeurvres will be provided but bring some other kinda food or drink also to share. Also bring ideas for games and other fun things to do!

[unfortunately, not only is Wu trying to hammer these into the wood beams, but also the stone. Because of course he is. He's definitely making some frustrated noises as he does so, and then perhaps, one time, he lets his frustration get the better of him, and he swings the hammer down a bit too hard, and--]

Yeowch!! [catches his finger, which of course makes him jerk his hand back and drop the hammer which unfortunately is going to land on his foot, which makes him yelp all over again, stumbling back--at which point his foot catches on the stone of the floor and...yep. Down he goes onto his back on the stone floor. There's a moment, two, before Wu mutters] Wu down.

[in the evening, Wu can be found in the Library, where he's sitting at one of the tables, reading a certain book and taking notes on some parchment.

Sort of.

Part of the parchment is filled with notes, and then the rest of it seem to be doodles. Mostly stick figures, and then a cartoonish badgermole here and there. Maybe a little heart with S + W in it. Don't worry about it.]

[One week down, three more to go. Katsuya is pretty glad so far there haven't been any major incidents, that's such a relief. Time to keep himself sharp]

Kitchen

[Given everything he has to do, it's not often Katsuya gets to do this, but he still has a good touch, it seems. Before long the kitchen fills with the scent of freshly baked goods -- and how not to! Katsuya seems to be hard at work! There's a tray of muffins, and a very sweet citrus mousse. Even though he doesn't have professional baking tools, he still managed to make do with normal, mundane kitchen items, giving everything a very professional-looking appearance.

Once anyone enters the kitchen, he waves at everything with a whisk]

Go ahead. I made enough for everyone.

[Looks like Katsuya has talent for baking!]

Training Room

[Keep himself sharp, that's what he has to do.

There he is, padded sword in hand, facing a training dummy some distance away. Katsuya has a confident stance, fearless, and extends a hand towards the dummy]

It's over!

[As soon as he said that, over him a form materialized in the air, surrounded by blue and white lights, emerging from Katsuya. It's...it's a strange form, to say the least!]

Move, Helios!

[Fire formed in Helios' hands, claws blazing with fire, before that fire burst forward, enveloping the training dummy with flames, burning it apart. Katsuya looks approvingly, Helios disappearing]

It seems this still works. Good.

[To know his Persona is still working properly is such a relief, that's for sure]

[Stella had intended to just do the "I'm bored so I'm going to go into the kitchen, open the icebox, realize I don't want anything in there, and then close the icebox and leave" loop she's been doing almost daily-- but even she has to admit, the muffins? Look good as hell.]

For everyone? Trying to win more hearts?

[Wu's been hanging up posters around, so the noise and a voice he very much recognizes coming from the training room catch his attention, and he veers that way to peer inside--just in time to watch that display. Needless to say, he's never seen anything like that, and his mouth falls open a bit in surprise and awe because woah--

--and then, of course, he's not paying attention to the grip he has on the box of nails, which is going to clatter out of his hand and onto the stonework. That startles Wu, making him jump, attention torn away from Katsuya and down to the floor momentarily so he can stoop to pick up the box of nails. At least they didn't go spilling everywhere???]

I have no reason to win anybody's heart.

[Katsuya shrugs, making sure the whisk is properly cleaned. You have to take care of the kitchen equipment, after all]

Regardless, given I have so much free time in my hands now, I thought indulging in this for once would be good. It has been a while since the last time I baked anything.

[Katsuya hears the noise and, instinctively, raises the sword. He forgets he's a sword and his hands as if he's going to aim with his handgun, instead making him look far less cool than he would otherwise. Ah, it's Wu]

There are plenty of dummies left, if you need some.

[Thank goodness for that, or else everyone else would have nothing other than ashes and obliterated dummies to work with]

Good to hear. [She stares the muffins down. She... usually does not do carbs, but for that muffin? Yeah, there's no denying that muffin. She takes one.]

A respectable use of your time. I'm sure everyone else will be just as grateful. Thank you.

I'm open to feedback. I didn't go to a professional school, but it should be far better than a novice's work.

[Confident enough in his skills to criticize other people's baked goods, that's for sure]

[It's so charming to watch Wu attempt to focus, that she almost decides against disrupting him. Almost.

Stella breezes by, then perches on the edge of the table he's at. Use a chair? No way. She's got her own book-- something about Illusion magic, but she doesn't seem very interested in it right now. Instead, she leans over his workspace, and with a snap of her fingers and a glow of her eyes, she's made a floating orb of light to hover over his workspace. It's the perfect level of light for reading, and even Stella feels a little impressed with her own work.]

What are you reading?

Could you be any harder on yourself? [That's... feedback, I guess? Stella takes a bite of the muffin.

Ugh. It's delicious.]

It's fine.

[Baldr had been intending to do some training of his own, but it seems as though the room is already occupied. Quite occupied, for that matter, and it's with decided interest that Baldr watches this display with raised eyebrows and considerably less surprise on his face than one might expect when faced with such a spectacle.

He stays quiet until the dummy has burned up, not wanting to startle either Katsuya or this creature into possibly attacking him instead.]

You're a summoner, then?

[As if that explains everything, it totally doesn't]

It's called a Persona. I had intended to keep this skill hidden, but given what everybody else can do I doubt it will turn any heads.

[Especially because Katsuya has this Persona since a few weeks ago at best, while everyone else probably has been magical for their entire lives]

Great! Perhaps I should bake more often. If we'll stay here for a month I see no reason to try making more of what I can remember. With some luck there will be cooking books in the library, but I doubt that.

This academy calls it 'conjuration', but yes, it could be said I'm a summoner.

[Katsuya shrugs, lying the tip of the sword onto the stone floor]

Although I haven't done this for long.

['Conjuration'... ah. No wonder this man looks familiar.]

I see... forgive me for not introducing myself sooner. I'm Baldr. No doubt you've seen me in the dorm.

[Sleeping faithfully in the bunk under Nuadha's, that is. Right now, though, he's looking at Helios with an expression bordering on awe.]

This is the first time I've had the chance to see a spirit up close. That wasn't on a battlefield, that is.

[Helios seems to be pretty at ease -- floating behind Katsuya, always staring at Baldr with its piercing glare, impassive like, well, a cat]

Usually you wouldn't be seeing it unless it's in the middle of a battlefield. I don't know if it's even a spirit or not -- this is supposed to be...a part of my own soul, from what I was once told.

[Which he doesn't completely understand, really]

I presume that means you also have an emotional connection with it?

[As if that's its cue to disappear, Helios vanishes, right when Katsuya seems a little sheepish]

I like cats. I suppose that's why it looks like that, so there may be an emotional component involved after all.

[Although if that's how this works, he has to wonder what's up with one of his acquaintances' Persona. Why does it have a high heel stuck right where its face should be? Does she like shoes that much? Personas are weird]

[Loki looks down at Wu laying on the ground.]
