[One week down and (if the Alchemist's promise is to be believed) just three more to go. In the past week royalty has been bullied, explicitly non-Satanic chairs were ordered and you began the pact-bonding process with your new proprietor of mercantile wares, ✨Garfield the Deals Warlock✨.

All in all, a surprisingly good week despite the kidnapping and looming threat of death. We'll see how long that lasts.

[Zenos might've caught her in the dorms, if he wasn't an absolute cryptid who fell asleep in the library more than he did in bed. So he misses her there. Instead, it's in the training room that he watches her drop that weight.

[ Despite Stella's words, it's clear Bryn's gearing up to receive another lecture. She's tied herself up in a little knot, defensive even though she knows she's done something wrong and probably deserves to be yelled at. But it's so hypocritical, isn't it? They're all acting so horrified and skittish, like they're better than her even though Bryn knows they're all thinking about it too.

So when Stella completely jumps tracks – derails altogether, in fact – Bryn just stares at her for a moment, like she can't quite understand what she's being asked. Of all the people here, it's Wu Stella's so worked up about?

The realization thunks into place in her chest, like a key turning a stiff lock. Of course she is. After all, if Reifr was here, Bryn would be stood in Stella's place and saying exactly the same thing.

Bryn bursts out laughing. Startled, befuddled laughter because she's the butt of the joke here, even if Stella doesn't get it. She shakes her head the whole while like she can't really believe it before finally giving Stella a grin. ]

That's what you're so worried about. I see, I see. There's no need for you to worry. I'm not interested in touching so much as a hair on his head.

[ Her expression is a little distant and the noise she makes isn't displeased in any way – if anything she sounds thoughtful, like his explanation is making some things click into place. She doesn't quite remember all of it, as if a red haze is curtaining that part of her mind from conscious thought, but when she lets her eye slide close and rests her head against the barrier... ]

I... lunged for Bruno... but I was caught and lifted into the air before I could do much of anything and I was so... so angry... and then after that I don't remember anything at all.

[ Her eye opens again and she looks right at Orthrus. ]

Is that right?

[ He's noting the way she has to piece it together and wondering if maybe it's a result of hitting her too hard or an indication that she wasn't fully in her right state of mind.

He shifts a little so he's properly sitting on the floor in front of her, crossing his legs as he does. ]

[ She's making a very conscious effort to be focused on her books for today so she almost doesn't notice when Red Velvet emerges. But then she glances up and happens to catch him scooting his way to the door – and rolls her eyes with a scoff. ]

Please. If you're going to threaten me with something, at least have the common sense to do it with something that's going to actually leave a mark.

Some sort of magical artifact? What does it do?

[ She's pensive enough that when Zenos approaches, she jumps a bit – not enough to be all that noticeable, but it's still telegraphed in the way she whips around to face him just a bit too fast. Her expression is cautious, but then it settles into something distinctly mutinous. ]

It sounds like you're speaking from experience.

[ Against her better judgement, though, she takes the knife. ]

[ She shoots him an absolutely filthy look, mutinous and disgusted all at once, as if to try and warn him off. But then she weighs her situation a little more properly and allows herself a huff of annoyance and her expression becomes something a little less venomous. ]

Not particularly. But I suspect I won't be allowed to roam free without providing a good enough explanation.

It's a philosophy exercise where I come from. There's a trolley - that's a big vehicle, basically - heading down a track towards five people. If it hits them, it'll kill them. You can stop it - if you move it to another track, where it's going to kill just one person instead.

Mmm... I can't say for sure about that. The others were pretty upset - it might not matter to them what the explanation is. I can't speak for their feelings.

But I would at least like to know. I don't think you'd just go off like that if there wasn't a reason, and I don't believe keeping you confined here is going to actually help in the long run. If we're going to get through this then we need to do it together.

[ He looks down for a moment, considering something... then adds: ]
