[One week down and (if the Alchemist's promise is to be believed) just three more to go. In the past week royalty has been bullied, explicitly non-Satanic chairs were ordered and you began the pact-bonding process with your new proprietor of mercantile wares, ✨Garfield the Deals Warlock✨.

All in all, a surprisingly good week despite the kidnapping and looming threat of death. We'll see how long that lasts.

On purpose? You mean all these weird things in the blind boxes? I guess maybe it'll help us get along if we're trading with each other for the things we want, but I'm not sure Garfield-san had that in mind.

He does seem focused on what's good for his business, though I have to say I don't actually know what that would be if he's making exclusivity deals with a place like this.

Merchants are all the same in the end. Their primary concern is to turn a profit.

[ Honestly, he's still pissy anyone is in league with the Alchemist in some manner. Though he does wonder...does he like fish? Whatever, it's not important. ]

I have to wonder. But he doesn't seem like the most... upright person, you're right. Then again, maybe he can be reasoned with more than the Alchemist?

Naturally. Merchants can be reasoned with if it has something to do with gaining a profit, but in the end what makes thinking that animal can be trusted a mistake is the iron-clad contract.

Unless maybe someone broke it and somehow got the cat to write a new one. Even then, it's clearly something done by magic so it could be a waste of time bothering.

[ And the contract is rather thick, and also Felix doesn't have the people skills for that. ]

Of course you could probably befriend it by being nicer to it and it'd be nicer to you, but in the end it'd still hold allegiance to that pig.

I guess that's true. I still don't know what's going through the Alchemist's head either. He acts like this is all normal.

He acts like this is normal because he's insane.

Whatever's going on through his head is probably just even more crazy nonsense and a stupid amount of power trips that make his ego the size of three continents together. And of course there is that tiny bit of his brain reserved for thinking about whatever he's hoping to use us for.

What he wants to use us for... The "apprentice" thing, you mean?

...Have on any thoughts on what he's looking from out of us?

I don't know. If picking us was random, it has to be something he could get from anybody. Or at least anybody he could "teach." So maybe not an ordinary person who can't do anything special... Most of you have some kind of magic or something like it, right? And I'm a Tamayori. Nobody acted like the idea was made up or scary.

...Exactly. All of us have "something" that he can potentially draw from us to get what he's "missing". Or at least, that what I think.

Still too early to tell, probably.

[ There's a small pause as his brows scrunch a little. ]

What exactly is a Tamayori, anyway?

Oh! It's a person who can see ghosts and spirits. Things that aren't visible to most people. They started becoming less common when industrialization came along.

And off topic anyway. Did you have a chance to talk with either of the two animals working together in all of this?

Animals? Oh, Garfield-san and the Alchemist! Not really since last time. The Alchemist didn't give me anything past what I shared with everybody, and I don't know what I'd ask him if I talked to him again.
