[One week down and (if the Alchemist's promise is to be believed) just three more to go. In the past week royalty has been bullied, explicitly non-Satanic chairs were ordered and you began the pact-bonding process with your new proprietor of mercantile wares, ✨Garfield the Deals Warlock✨.

All in all, a surprisingly good week despite the kidnapping and looming threat of death. We'll see how long that lasts.

Then you can set about reclaiming your kingdom right away when you get back. After a month together, I suppose I can tolerate a rain check.

Oh! [brightly, once that sinks in] Sure, that'd be swell! Even if we can't go anywhere exciting, we could still have a good time.

Precisely. We can find a nice way to entertain one another, even if it will be less impressive than Republic City.

Hey, I'm all ears. The library's nice, I guess, or the Music Room but this place doesn't seem to have a lot of nice places to just kick your feet up, y'know?

[he tilts his head a bit] Is Alfea the same way?

Yes. They make a good deal of making everything seem much more... community-friendly, and there are the grounds, but it's basically the same. We had a common room within the dorm, but my dormmates and I didn't get along until very recently. And everywhere else, there were always eyes on me.

I could only really relax, or be myself, in Sky's dorm. [The light shifts again, forming a more pink light.] Which is just wrong. A girl like me, hiding away.

[:< that's not fair!!] That's a tragedy, is what that is. Alfea sounds like it's a real dull spot. You deserve better than to be stuck there, hiding from people.

[that smirk curls the corners of his mouth] That means we'll just have to spend several nights on the town once we get out of here and head to Republic City.

It wasn't all bad. I threw the most wonderful parties. But I suppose we were there to learn, after all. [That stupid smirk, again. She tilts her head slightly to the side, watching him.]

Do you still want to bring Mako along?

I mean usually I bring my bodyguard along...but then again, most of the dames I hang out with aren't as strong as you. [his expression softens]

I know you'll protect me.

[Oh. She hadn't expected that. The smile drops-- and she scoots forward, to the very edge of the table, and opens her arms to him.]

I'll destroy anyone who dares to think about hurting you.

[oh well in that case--who is he to say no? He's going to go right into her arms, then, leaning into loop his arms around her waist and rest his head on her shoulder]

I know. I trust you.

[She wraps her arms around him, protectively draping herself over him.]

I mean it. I'll boil them alive, if I have to.

I know you mean it. But I don't think you'll have to boil them alive, even though you can. [it's not chiding in any way. If anything, a little amused] I'll leave that to your judgement~

No. Probably not. I daresay everyone had gotten the idea by now. [she's p much told everyone as much--]

But I can. And I will, if I have to.

[he can't help but chuckle a bit at that--though he does quiet for a moment...before pulls back slightly. Not enough to leave the circle of her arms, but enough that he can plant his hands on the desk on either side of her hips and be able to look her in the face]

...Stella, listen. You're an amazing dame. Really dynamite. And I know you know that, too. And I know I'm useless in a fight, and you wouldn't need me there anyway even if I wasn't, but...I want you to know that if you ever need some other kind of help--someone to listen, or a hug, or a shoulder, or just someone to hold you--anything like that...I'm here. That, at least, I can do.

[Stella’s heart lifts in a way it hasn’t, not for a long time, as she gazes back at him. It’s such a kind offer—- one that takes her into account first, offering her what she needs, instead of what someone else thinks she might. Her possessive grip on him does not loosen.]
