[One week down and (if the Alchemist's promise is to be believed) just three more to go. In the past week royalty has been bullied, explicitly non-Satanic chairs were ordered and you began the pact-bonding process with your new proprietor of mercantile wares, ✨Garfield the Deals Warlock✨.

All in all, a surprisingly good week despite the kidnapping and looming threat of death. We'll see how long that lasts.

I couldn't live with myself if I knew I had eaten another sentient creature.

But as I said, it is always wise to check. I recommend giving any cake you come across and desire to eat a quick jab with a fork. That should give you a good idea if its alive or not.

Not specifically, no. But, I AM a Cookie. You flesh beings eat Cookies. I have no interest in becoming someone's snack while I slumber. I will not make myself an easy target.

I suppose that... is a very valid concern. In my experience people don't usually... eat things that are still alive though...

[Red Velvet looks... confused. Probably for good reason. Up until a week ago he didn't even know that flesh and blood were... things. Now there's even more?]

So... you're made of clay? Like a jar?

Some…what. It’s not normal clay though and the clay itself isn’t what gives us life.

[ Absently he finds his hand moving to rub the side of his neck, brushing against his crystal earring as he does. ]

It’s how I’m able to change my form though. While the Allmother sculpted our true forms herself, we can reshape ourselves as we need, once we’ve practiced enough at least.

Ah! I see! Enchanted clay. Just as Cookies are made of enchanted dough. [he nods. It makes perfect sense to him] I did not know clay could be imbued with the spark of life, but I suppose its malleable nature makes for a very useful canvas.

Mm... well, anything's possible when you're the Allmother I suppose. She is a Goddess after all and every material that makes up her body is imbued with her divinity...

Yes he is basically implying that the clay is special because his goddess mom is also jUST... MADE OUT OF CLAY... AND USING HER OWN FLESH...

He seems somewhat absent minded as he speaks though, like there's something almost automated about it. ]

[ And then he stops abruptly, trailing off and furrowing his brow. Like he just remembered something unpleasant. ]

[ He fidgets with his earring for a moment, then begins to speak again. ]

A-Anyway, I suppose we are not too different after all i-in that regard.

[Red Velvet certainly notices that pause. Orthrus speaks highly of his mother, but his father... But it is not his place to pry]

We are more similar than I thought, yes. [he frowns] But it sounds like your Allmother created you with compassion... the Witches bake Cookies with only gluttony and pride in their hearts. I am envious of you, Sir Orthrus, to have a creator who cherishes you.

[twibeast]

[ Orthrus is quiet for a moment. ]

"Cherishes" huh...?

[ He's not so sure about that, but that's enough digging into the backstory for today. ]

That is... quite unfortunate though. To the Allmother... though we call her that because of her status, she really is our biological mother and us her children, for better or for worse. That your creators can be as cruel as they are really is... evil.

Evil truly is the only word strong enough for it. Imagine being able to create life... then doing so, just so you can take it away. I can't imagine... killing any of my own creations. I would rather die myself.
