[One week down and (if the Alchemist's promise is to be believed) just three more to go. In the past week royalty has been bullied, explicitly non-Satanic chairs were ordered and you began the pact-bonding process with your new proprietor of mercantile wares, ✨Garfield the Deals Warlock✨.

All in all, a surprisingly good week despite the kidnapping and looming threat of death. We'll see how long that lasts.

Indeed it is. It has not been that long since I discarded this garb for my current... though perhaps it is worth revisiting while we are trapped.

He is a little strange, but at least he isn't trying to hurt us, right? I don't think ugly furniture is that bad an offence in comparison.

I doubt that he could hurt me if he tried, but I would prefer it if he at least made the attempt. This pretense of civility is boring me.

I would like to simply cut to the chase. But if I must wait longer for this peaceful façade to crumble, so be it.

Whether or not the offer of simply waiting for a month is genuine or not, it matters little. To gather everyone together just to let things pass by...

No. If nothing happens this week, then the next will spill someone's blood. And once there is blood in the water, more will follow.

This, specifically? Who's to say. For all that we know, the Alchemist has done this before and will do it again.

But the situation is not so unique. The trappings may be different, but it is a calm before the storm I am most familiar with. The moments counted before battle. The eve before an assassination.

I can scarce remember a time in my life when assassination attempts were not just a part of my daily life.

And war has always been a close companion of mine as well. Or, more specifically, of my home, and thus of me by extension.

It is a simple fact of life. I never considered it difficult. An annoyance, at times. Sometimes, almost entertaining.
