[One week down and (if the Alchemist's promise is to be believed) just three more to go. In the past week royalty has been bullied, explicitly non-Satanic chairs were ordered and you began the pact-bonding process with your new proprietor of mercantile wares, ✨Garfield the Deals Warlock✨.

All in all, a surprisingly good week despite the kidnapping and looming threat of death. We'll see how long that lasts.

Just an observation. Hmm, from the age I would guess an older brother. But maybe a father? Only family can cause a reaction like that.

[ She realizes a fraction of a second too late that the ferocity of her response is as good as an outright confession and she takes a moment to try – keyword: try – and restrain herself. When she speaks up again, it's through gritted teeth and with audible effort to stay... slightly calm. ]

... I happen to be an only child. Whatever... relationship that man might have to me is an accident of biology and nothing more.

[His oilly smile proves he caught that]

I felt the same way about my father when I took his life. I can... empathize. The drive to kill our kin has been a part of humanity for as long as we've been standing upright and setting things on fire.

[he rubs his chin in thought]

[ Humans in general? Hubert in particular? She doesn't bother to clarify, but she spits it out like the very idea is an insult, regardless. ]

This isn't some petty family grudge I'm holding out of misplaced pride.

Oh, then what is it?

It's nothing to do with you!

[ She spits that out before she can restrain herself and she has to grit her teeth hard enough to make her jaw ache to reign herself back in. ]

I just– I must kill him. I have to see him dead. And– And if the Alchemist can do it for me without me having to waste my time on him, then that's all the better for me!

I see.

[And he seems to decide he's seen what he needs to see. Not in her answers- after all, it is none of his business and he doesn't really care. But in her rage, her dedication to this cause. The mocking tone drops completely]

It's unfortunate. I need to see this month pass without incident and you are directly blocking that. Thankfully I'm practiced in ways to disable someone without killing them.

[His spell circle appears under his feet, and his hands glow in a sickly purple light- very different from when he attacked Garfield-slash-Chair, the very air feeling heavier just from it's existence]

I wish I could say this will be painless... but that would be a lie.

[ An involuntary breath pulls in through her teeth and there's alarm playing across her features – not quite fear, more the blind surprise and confusion of a deer unknowingly staring down the headlights of an approaching car. But then she huffs out a soft noise, not quite a laugh and stares him down with a challenge in her eyes. ]

Don't fool yourself. If I was truly determined to see someone in here dead, you wouldn't have the opportunity to stop me.

[ It's the worst possible thing she could say in a situation like this. But her bravado has gotten her into – and out of – worse messes before. ]

But I've no intention of making another try of it. If someone were to die, wouldn't I be the first suspect in everyone's minds? I'd have no hope of getting away with it. So there's no point in even making the attempt.

[pegasinister]

Very true: you would be caught instantly. But people have done stupider things when desperate.

[His circle glows brighter, casting the room in eerie violet light]

If it really isn't for "petty personal reasons" maybe the others would turn the other way? Shed a few tears, bemoan how many lives would be changed? "Oh I'm not REALLY a killer, this place just changes you..."

[He scoffs and moves closer]

No... I don't think I'll be taking that risk today. Think of this as a lesson in consequences.

[ A wave of anxiety rolls over her – she knows she's sturdier than most, resistant to the kinds of magic that would put a hole through most other people. None of it is really her own power, but she wears it like a medal of honor anyway, like it's something she earned. She's never had reason to doubt it would keep her safe but now she has a thought – in this strange place with all this strange magic, would it do anything to protect her against this?

Bryn balls her hand into a tight fist and decides she doesn't want to find out. ]

Try this for consequences, you haughty old crow!

[ And with that, she tanks her fist forward and sinks it right into his stomach. ]

[If he hadn't been preparing a spell he might have been able to dodge it. But maybe not. He's never been skilled at melee combat, after all. So her swing hits him right in the breadbasket, making him double over with a wheeze. The spell dissipates harmlessly.]

This... isn't over... princess.

[the threat is kinda ruined by how his strained voice sounds closer to a very different earlier Robbie Daymond role. Fearing a follow up attack he teleport the fuck away]
